Thailand, April – May 2026
From 21 April to 14 May 2026, I participated in the Arai-eek Lab Residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand. As part of the Technobiological Futures Co-Laboratories (TBF CoLabs), the residency brought together an international community of artists, scientists, designers, technologists and makers to explore Lanna Futurism through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Organised by Hackteria, tomorrow.lab and Pa Rang Art Company, the residency encouraged collaborative experimentation, open knowledge exchange and new approaches at the intersection of art, science and technology.
As part of the programme, I developed the Advanced Bubble Lab and contributed it to the residency as a collaborative exploration of soap bubbles at the intersection of art, science and technology.
Advanced Bubble Lab
The Advanced Bubble Lab explored soap bubbles as a medium for interdisciplinary artistic research. Working with bubble geometry, membranes, light, colour, projection and collective play, participants investigated the physical and visual properties of bubbles through collaborative experimentation.
Designed specifically for the residency participants, the session brought together artists, scientists, designers, technologists and researchers, creating a unique environment where different perspectives informed new ideas and approaches.
Among the ideas that emerged was the concept of a bubble painting robot, combining robotics, bubble material and interactive processes as a potential future research direction.

Artistic development
The residency opened new perspectives on the relationship between soap bubbles, technology and interdisciplinary experimentation. Working alongside artists, scientists and technologists created a framework for exploring bubbles beyond their familiar performative context, focusing on their material qualities, behaviour and potential as a tool for collaborative research.
The Advanced Bubble Lab contributed to the ongoing exploration of bubbles as an artistic medium, particularly in relation to technology, projection, robotics and interactive processes.
